Waking Nightmare

As he stepped out of the elevator, Sam saw the dim hallway seem to stretch out for miles. The feeling of deja vu overwhelmed him, almost choking him. He shook as he took the next step towards the door about halfway down the hall. Beads of sweat began standing out on his forehead with each step he took towards her room.
Why did I stay there for that third damn bottle? he asked himself.

As he continued his very slow and shaky way towards the door, his mind drifted back to the night she had sashayed her high-heeled, ass-shaking, boob-bouncing way back in to his meaningless existence. The drinks had been flowing in that seedy little dive, and the girls were more than happy to rub their soft bodies on him as long as the cash held out. He was finally settling on the rounder blonde when he heard that whisper-soft voice in his ear which made him lose his mind by inches every time he heard it.
"Sam, honey! I can't believe it's you! What possessed you to show up in Terra Ambien? And after all this time?"
Sam's whole body shook, and the blonde slid off his lap to drop with an oomph onto the floor, as Sam started to stand up. Sam's senses were urging him to run, but he knew she had her others outside waiting for him to do just that. Sam forced a bit of bravado as he looked her in the eye. The deep green of her eyes began to work its magic on him, and he felt himself being carried on a wave of her hypnotic charms, one faltering step at a time.
As he neared her, she reached out to touch his cheek, knowing that at her touch, he would again be hers to control. Sam stopped just short. Something in him made him step back, ever so subtly. The bar seemed to melt away as they stood facing each other.
"Ty, why? Why is it so important I come back to you?" he asked as she slowly lowered her arm, her eyes flashing her surprised anger. She dropped her eyes for a moment and then looked up at him again.
"Oh, Sam. You know why. How on earth you managed to break free of me, and hide for all these years I am not sure I will ever figure out, but I do know that your spirit, your desire to live life to the fullest, has always made me feel so good. How about you come for a visit, no strings attached, and after we talk, you are free to go your own way, IF you so choose."
Sam felt himself nodding, and holding his hand out for her card, feeling as though he knew there was something wrong with what she was saying, but also feeling that this was a scene out of some old fiction novel. He exhaled as she turned on her heel and strode confidently out the door, her hair swaying along her back, and her perfume lingering in the air. He was suddenly aware that the blonde was still sitting on the floor staring after Ty. The look on the blonde's face was the same look nearly everyone had when within five feet of Ty.
Sam reached down to help the girl up, struggling to recall what the poor thing's name was.
"Dee? Dee? Hey girl, are you alright? I'm sorry I dumped you on the floor. It's just that I haven't seen Ty in so long, and really had hoped I wouldn't be seeing her again, EVER. Dee?"
Dee shook her head and turned to face Sam. She rubbed her hand on Sam's arm, clearing her throat (and her head). She smiled a cute little smile, hoping to stay on Sam's good side, trying to let him know she was going to forgive him, but trying to figure out what was going on still (and debating on how she could meet the woman).
"Sam, darlin', how about you take me someplace else?"
Sam stared at Dee for a few minutes, and then decided he would just take her up on that offer. After all, it might be the last time he gets to make any decision of his own free will after meeting Ty tomorrow. Sam and Dee meandered out the door, Sam, knowing where this was heading, drove straight to the nearest no-tell motel. Sam and Dee did their best to wear each other out, finally surrendering to each other as the sun's rays were starting over the horizon.
